Housing Construction Update

Housing permits and housing starts in August were higher than they were in any month since November 2008. A genuine housing recovery has to have a normal pace (the 2005 pace was not normal!) of housing construction.

It seems one concept that gets very little discussion is a "job-less recovery". Making matters worse, I cannot understand the bounces in the stock markets on reports of fewer job losses than estimated or slowing rates of job losses. Our economy is still losing jobs.

Has anyone calculated the loss in purchasing power because of these job loses? This number would seem to hold a clue to a true recovery or at least a stabilization of the economy.
